Hi! My name is Megan Bowen, and many of you know me as an English instructor for Ashworth University High School online. I began working as part of the correspondence program as an English grader in 2002. Before that, I taught high school in both public and private schools in Ohio and in Georgia, where I currently reside.
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio (go Bucks!) and attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where I earned a BA in English Literature and BS in English Education. I am married with three children, who fill my days with chaos and joy. In my spare time (which is minimal!), I enjoy reading and jogging.
I have always approached life with a “give back” attitude. I think it’s important to be a productive part of whatever it is you do: at home, at school, and at work. You get one chance to make a difference, and it doesn’t matter whether it affects one person or one million, what you do is important. As a teacher, I hope that I am able to inspire and encourage my students to expect more for themselves and from themselves.
This is my first experience in the blogging world (this from the not-so-technologically-inclined-girl who just got an i-pod less than a month ago). It’s exciting to enter the 21st century educational community together through this forum!
